JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM – BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Employment Social Security) has cooperated with state-owned Bank Negara Indonesia (BBNI.JK) to facilitate Indonesian migrant workers in making employment social security payments.
E Ilyas Lubis, Director of Expansion of Membership and Interpersonal Relationship at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, said the institution is doing everything possible to make it easier for Indonesian migrant workers to make contributions through the Indonesian Workers' Card (KPI) which is also the result of cooperation between Bank BNI and BNP2TKI.
According to him, the protection of social security for Indonesian migrants workers hosted by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan came into effect on August 1, 2017 and according to the mandate of Minster of Labor Number 7/072017.
Ilyas explained that the cooperation is done solely to provide convenience to Indonesian migrant workers in making payment of contributions by utilizing the extensive network abroad owned by Bank BNI.
"Hopefully the comprehensive cooperation with various parties can have a positive impact, especially for Indonesian migrant workers," said Ilyas, in a press release on Monday (8/7/2017).
For participation, migrant workers can register through m.bpjsketenagakerjaan.go.id and payment of dues through BNI network, especially for Indonesian migrant workers registered in government’s pension program, where payment is made every month during the membership period.
Seven days after the appointment of BPJS-TK as the implementation of social insurance for migrant workers, now 9000 are participants.
Ilyan added, the protection of migrant workers has been started since the relevant start entering the preparatory work before being sent to the country of placement until returning to the country.
Protection covers the Death Insurance (JKm) and Work Accident Insurance (JKK) is a compulsory program that must be owned by the workers, while the Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT) program is a volunteer elected program to become a provision of old age savings of migrant workers collected from the contemporaries they work.
